About Honey Creek
Honey Creek Community School was founded in 1995 with support from the Washtenaw Intermediate School District (WISD). Honey Creek has grown from a K-2 charter school with 33 students to a fully staffed K-8 charter school with 250 students. Honey Creek Community School was founded out of the community and emphasizes and maintains relationship and connection with the community as well as a commitment toward ensuring children interacting and learning from a diverse community. The response from the community to Honey Creek is overwhelmingly positive as evidenced by the strong participation of our parents in school activities. Our project based, thematic, integrated curriculum, small class sizes and strong student-teacher relationships illustrate our uniqueness as a charter school.

Music/Band Teacher (K-8)

Description of Duties
The Music teacher is responsible for planning and delivering a comprehensive music education program to students in kindergarten through 8th grade. This includes teaching general music, introducing students to basic music theory, vocal and instrumental skills, and fostering a lifelong appreciation for music through engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons.
Requirements:
Possess a Bachelor’s degree
Possesses or is working toward a Michigan teaching certificate applicable to the teaching assignment (endorsement JX or JQ)

Special Education Teacher/Teacher Consultant
Location: Honey Creek Community School, Ann Arbor

Description of Duties
The Special Education Teacher evaluates students and conducts Multi Evaluation Team and Individualized Education Plan meetings. The Special Education Teacher also provides direct and indirect services to students with Individualized Education Plans, including supporting the classroom teacher’s instructional efforts.

Middle School Math Teacher - 6-8 grades
Location: Honey Creek Community School, Ann Arbor
Employment Type: Full Time or Part Time (will consider splitting the positions)

Description of Duties
The responsibilities of the middle school math program is divided between two teachers: full-time and part-time. Both teachers will work closely within the middle school team to deliver effective instruction to our multi-age/multi-grade middle school classes. The middle school math curriculum is divided into five levels from foundational to advanced math. Our program is grounded in the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), with adjustments to accommodate the needs of multi-age classrooms. Honey Creek currently uses Math Nation workbooks, which offer an Illustrative Mathematics curriculum that aligns with CCSS while actively engaging students in collaborative learning. Honey Creek places an emphasis on whole-child education and the development of rich relationships with our students. The full-time teacher will also be responsible for leading a base class of around 20 students, which accounts for roughly 25% of responsibilities. These include leading morning meetings, teambuilding, jobs duties, and overseeing a media center time. Additionally, the full-time teacher is expected to attend a four-day, overnight camp with students in the fall and a four-day overnight camp with 8th graders in the spring.
Requirements:
Possess a Bachelor’s degree
Possesses - or is working towards - a Mathematics (EX) 6-12 teaching certificate through the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS).

Elementary School Teacher

Description of Duties
Elementary teachers are expected to work as a team in developing and implementing educational instruction and care to the school’s K-8 students. Teachers are to run a multi-age, subject-integrated educational curriculum continuously designed and evaluated to meet each child’s needs and goals as well as address state benchmarks. In addition to working with other elementary team teachers, teachers are to work closely with children’s caregivers and community members in producing a curriculum which draws on experiences at home, in the school, and in the larger community, and which encourages caregivers and other community members to participate in the school and share their expertise.

Current Michigan elementary teacher’s certificate

Description of Duties
The PE/Health/Swim teacher delivers effective instruction to our multi-age/multi-grade classes K-8 in PE, Health, and Swim. Honey Creek places an emphasis on whole-child education and the development of rich relationships with our students. The PE teacher is encouraged to collaborate with the classroom teachers on themes, projects, and service activities. The PE teacher will showcase the year's curriculum and student achievement at the end-of-year PE Play Day for families and the community.

Speech & Language Pathologist
Location: Honey Creek Community School
Employment Type: Part Time: 0.6 FTE
Description of Duties:
The Speech and Language Pathologist provides prevention, assessment and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice and fluency and are designed to help students meet their educational needs.
Qualifications:
Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathology License.
Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
An endorsement to work with students who have speech and language impairments pursuant to Rules 340.1781, 340.1782, and 340.1796 of the Revised Administrative Rules for Special Education.
ASHA SLP-CCC preferred

Collects, analyzes, and interprets various formal and informal assessments and evaluation strategies to evaluate and modify interventions to support the educational program.
Provides services to students in ways that build upon individual strengths and offers students maximum opportunities to participate in the planning and direction of their own learning experience.
Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g., testing/screening, IEPs, parent conferences, etc.) for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing intervention plans, and/or providing training to parents/guardians, students and staff.
Adheres to District policies and procedures as well as professional, ethical and legal standards of practice.
Protects the confidentiality of student records and releases personal data in accordance with state law and board policies.
Documents, on a regular basis, student’s progress using assessment tools; monitoring through observations/evaluation and/or collecting data. Uses student progress data to improve instruction and service provision.
Works cooperatively and communicates with staff, students and parents/guardians.
Supports a team-based approach to problem solving.
